Oh boy, here we go. As i'm typing this our plumber is gutting both levels' bathroom tubs and essentially the shared plumbing walls. Short story is the 50yr old copper under the duplex is rotting, drains are plugging and the cast iron tubs are about to drop thru their respective floors. So rather than wait for the catastrophe(s) we opted to be proactive, chop it all out and replace. And since the tradesmen are in the door, let's get the W/D combos out of the bedrooms, change out the 20yr old hot water heater, repair the hideous downstair's ceiling and get rid of the AC/heat "snorkels".
Upstairs becomes a 1BR apartment that offers a more gracious use of space while creating more privacy from the neighbors. Kathleen's blueprint of the upstair's plan is next to this text, both level blueprints are in the slideshow entitled "Stones Throw 2011 Renovations".
