Sandy Storm Update Buxton, NC: 8am 10/27

Our on-site correspondent has sent in her latest report on the storm: "The ocean was constant white noise all night.  The sea continues to churn - sand colored sea foam spreads across the sand, blowing gently with the tropical breeze.  The highest waves are stretching to reach the sand fences.  Most 'guests' have left - CR3M is packing up, Captains' Cape Girl's driveway is empty - And the Aframe said good bye to one car, one car remains.
The breeze is gentle, warm and the rain started about a half hour ago, so it's still just a drizzle.  At this point, it seems unlikely that we will be battered, but we're expecting 6-10 inches of rain - so we'll see what the next few days bring."

The picture is looking south from the Cottage Ave beach access.   You can see Fred/Christy's deck to the right.
